3 Step Fast, Accurate SARS VAT Registration

TAXology helps you avoid delays, rejections, and wasted time by getting your VAT registration done right — the first time. Start the process in minutes, and we’ll take care of everything from there, so you don’t have to, in 3 easy steps.

Why VAT Registration Matters

If your business is approaching or has passed R1 million in annual turnover, VAT registration isn’t optional — it’s required by law. Delaying it can trigger penalties, interest, and compliance flags that affect your ability to trade.

Even if you’re not there yet, registering early helps you work with VAT vendors, claim input tax, and look credible to funders and partners.

💡 Tip: Many businesses submit incomplete applications and get stuck. With TAXology, your documents are pre-reviewed and submitted correctly the first time — no guesswork, no back and forth.

Why It Pays to Register Early

  • ✅ Avoid SARS penalties
  • ✅ Claim back VAT on expenses
  • ✅ Build compliance credibility
  • ✅ Get Supplier Approval faster

At TAXology, we understand that VAT registration isn’t just a box-ticking exercise — it’s a legal requirement that can impact your entire business cash flow. Whether you’ve hit the R1 million turnover threshold or want to register voluntarily, getting your VAT registration right from the start saves you stress, penalties, and missed claims.

Our process is built for how business works now. You don’t need to visit SARS or guess what’s missing — we manage the full application through eFiling, prepare your Public Officer documents, and even deal with follow-ups and branch visits if needed. You’ll get clear updates, expert guidance, and peace of mind knowing you’re compliant.

Once registered, we’ll also help you understand how to issue valid tax invoices, manage your VAT returns, and stay up to date with SARS requirements. VAT registration is just the beginning—we’re here for the journey.

What You’ll Need to Register for VAT

SARS requires a number of documents and steps to approve your VAT registration. Our secure intake form gathers all necessary information upfront to help you avoid any follow-up requests. If you’re missing something, we’ll guide you through what’s needed—and even help complete the CRA01 form where necessary.

What You’ll Need to Register

  • ✅ Complete the TAXology VAT Application Form
  • ✅ Sign the TAXology Mandate to authorise our services
  • ✅ SARS-registered income tax number
  • ✅ Certified ID of the Public Officer
  • ✅ Proof of address (not older than 3 months)
  • ✅ Company registration documents
  • ✅ Stamped bank letter or 3-month statements
  • ✅ CRA01 form if no proof of address
  • ✅ Public Officer appointment letter (we prepare this)

💡 We handle all SARS communication on your behalf. That includes eFiling submissions, document corrections, follow-ups, and even branch visits when necessary — so you don’t have to.

You’re Registered — Now What?

Once SARS approves your VAT registration, there are a few critical steps to take—both to remain compliant and to update your suppliers, customers, and systems. TAXology supports you through these phases too.

What Makes a Legal Tax Invoice?

Once you’re VAT-registered, every invoice you issue must comply with SARS rules — or risk being disallowed for input VAT claims.

  • ✅ The words “Tax Invoice”, “VAT Invoice” or “Invoice”
  • ✅ Supplier’s name, address, and VAT registration number
  • ✅ Invoice number and issue date
  • ✅ Description of goods/services and quantity if applicable
  • ✅ Total amount charged, showing VAT separately
  • ✅ Buyer’s name and VAT number (if over R5,000)

📌 For invoices of R50 or less, a full tax invoice isn’t needed — but you must still keep basic documentation like a till slip or receipt showing VAT charged.
